Dr. Luvsandorjiin Bayarsaikhan (Лувсандоржийн Баярсайхан, hereafter “Bayar”), a gynecologic cancer specialist affiliated with the World Health Organization (WHO) who has been collaborating with AIDOT in Mongolia, appeared on the Mongolian broadcast program “DeFacto” to introduce the need for—and directions for expanding—an AI-based early screening and immediate treatment model for cervical cancer.

Dr. Bayar is also known as a figure who first introduced artificial intelligence into Mongolia’s medical field.

Under the motto, “All Mongolian women must be free from cervical cancer,” Dr. Bayar has worked with AIDOT since 2022 to promote the adoption of “Cerviray AI.”

Cerviray AI is currently being used in more than 20 major medical institutions across Mongolia.

Dr. Bayar stated, “Cervical cancer is still often diagnosed at a fairly late stage, resulting in high mortality,” and proposed an AI interpretation system as an alternative.

He explained that if trained medical personnel perform the imaging and the AI provides a preliminary interpretation, more women can access screening even without a specialist being present on-site.

He added that by confirming results quickly, it becomes possible to decide whether a biopsy is needed, whether re-screening after one year is required, or whether immediate treatment is necessary.

He also pointed out that controversy has recently arisen in Mongolia’s medical field due to the influx of copy products, leading to misdiagnosis cases in which normal patients were over-classified as having cancer findings; as a result, the number of patients seeking biopsies surged, and local general hospitals experienced confusion.

He emphasized that if such over-classification is repeated, the burden on medical institutions could grow, stating that “a system with sufficiently verified specificity and sensitivity is important.”

AIDOT plans to further strengthen collaboration with local medical staff so that Cerviray AI can continue to be utilized in line with these on-site needs.
